All parents and their children are very important to us and we strive to build a relationship between children, their families and Happy Hands Pre-School that is founded on trust.
Happy Hands Pre-School aims to provide high quality care and education for all children that attend our setting. It is our aim to ensure that the well being of each child is supported. We work in partnership with parents to help children develop as individuals. We offer a service that promotes equality and values diversity. Happy Hands Pre-School will always operate within OFSTED guidelines and prioritise the safety and welfare of all children. We believe that children learn best when they are having fun and our aim is to make this happen at all times!
Happy Hands Pre-School will always have staff available to care for your child for the agreed period of care. In the event that your child does not attend pre-school on these agreed terms for whatever reason, fees will still be payable.
Should you wish to reduce sessions or cancel your child's place and terminate this agreement then four weeks notice must be given in writing.
Children will receive well balanced and nutritious snacks and meals and all children with special dietary needs will be accommodated where at all possible.
Parents are always informed in advance of any outings and visits outside of the pre-school setting. Children will always be closely supervised during these outings with a high adult to child ratio to ensure all children are safe.
We have a policy on encouraging good, constructive, positive and social behaviour. Disapproval of unacceptable behaviour will be shown consistently in a positive manner. No child will ever be disciplined through rough handling, smacking, shouting or humiliation.
Arrivals and Departures
Happy Hands Pre-School can only accept responsibility for a child when they have been entered as present in our daily register and their parent / carer has left the premises. Whilst the door of the premises is unlocked during dropping off and collection times a member of staff will always be stationed at the door. The door is locked as soon as all parents / carers have left and by 9.10 a.m. latest. An intercom buzzer system operated by a member of staff will allow entry of late arrivals into the building. Parents are asked to collect their child promptly at the end of the session or arrange for one of their nominated persons to contact their child on their behalf. Once a child has been collected the care of the child becomes the responsibility of the parent / carer.
This can be an emotional time for both children and parents. We have found from experience that a number of short settling in periods in advance of your child starting can be really beneficial. It is not unusual for a child to appear unhappy when initially left and once you leave them the distress rarely lasts more than a few minutes. The excitement of their new surroundings and the other children quickly attracts their attention. You can feel reassured that if you child shows any undue distress we will always ring you and we are always happy for parents to ring us if they are at all concerned. We are always happy to advise on alternative settling in approaches.
Children are encouraged to join in all activities however messy! In having fun children will inevitably get dirty. We ask parents not to dress their children in 'special outfits' as we don't want such clothing to inhibit play. We ask all parents to provide a spare change of clothing for their child in a named bag and provide shoes and coats suitable for outdoor play to match seasonal weather conditions.
Staff can only administer prescribed medication and only when parents have completed and signed the medication record book and given administer instructions.
In the event that you are concerned or unhappy about any aspect of the pre-school please advise one of the pre-school managers. If for any reason both of the pre-school managers are unavailable then please advise your child's keyworker who will feedback to the managers as soon as possible.
